Dodgers Strengthening Their Starting Five

Happy Black Friday!!! I woke up today feeling wonderful; I got a lil' tipsy last night but didn't wake up with a hangover, so it is all good.

When I first go on the Mac, I check my twitter. This time around, I saw #Garland was trending in L.A. I looked it up & saw that the Dodgers signed him to a one-year deal, with a possible second year.

Jon Garland is is a good starter. He eats up innings, something the Dodgers need since they over-use their relievers. He went 14-12 last season with a 3.46 ERA, one more win than the most on the Dodgers (Kershaw had 13).

This acquisition gives the Dodgers a formidable rotation: Clayton Kershaw (13-10, 2.91 ERA in 2010), Chad Billingsley (12-11, 3.57 ERA), Ted Lilly (10-12, 3.62 ERA), Hiroki Kuroda (10-13, 3.39 ERA), and now Jon Garland.

The most attractive stat here is that all had an ERA in the mid 3's or lower.

This now gives the Dodgers a legit starting five, something they haven't had in years - seriously, I've been a dodger fan for over the last decade and I cannot remember there being a more solid rotation.

All the Dodgers need is a power-hitting left fielder. Adam Dunn anyone???

I bid you all farewell.
